Flipping the Scales by Pete Tarsi7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() He finished his first draft after the first week of Aug. This motivated Tarsi to write 55,000 words in July alone. National Novel writing month is supposed to motivate prospective authors with ideas to put them on paper. Tarsi’s friend, who was also a writer, challenged him in the National Novel writing month. Tarsi said the idea has been in his head for a couple of years, but he didn’t begin writing until July of this year when he was motivated by a friend, who he called a tremendous support system. ![]() Tarsi didn’t base any of his characters off of people’s personalities but he did name some of the characters after his three children. “Their lives are flipped upside-down, and they are stuck that way until the next full moon” said Tarsi. In a brief description of the book, Tarsi writes, “The translucent skirt that Meredith finds hidden on the beach gets wet and transforms her legs into a mermaid tail.” During this time, Marina takes her first steps on land and finds out that her mermaid tail has gone missing, and she is forced to walk on land alone among the humans. ![]() While not yet published, Tarsi has already sent his book to agents and already plans for Flipping the Scales to be the first in a trilogy.įlipping the Scales focuses on a young mermaid, Marina, and a teenage girl, Meredith, switching lives.
